Project 26 {week 1} Me and Mine | Danville CA Photographer

I am off on new journey in 2012 called project 26.  Along with 15 other amazing photographers I will post bi weekly based on two different ideas.  The first post of every month will be a picture of my family …and I have to be in the picture (that was a buzz killer right there). The second post of each month will be based on a different creative theme to push us out of our comfort zone.

I’m always a little nervous about starting a new project.  Projects like this take time – more time than I think they will – and usually more time than I have.  Not to mention how they impact the whole family. Tonight for instance,  I accidentally fed my kids two things that were expired for dinner! Once again, I am totally rocking this parenting thing.icon smile Project 26 {week 1} Me and Mine | Danville CA Photographer

My anxiety reached an all time high when my middle daughter so boldly approached me with a piece of paper, her hand on her hip and said, ” I would like to withdraw my un-enrollment from this photography 52 thingy.”  She then handed me a piece of paper that read, “This paper is my walking paper.  I’m out!”   So yes, I am going to have to do some negotiations with her and yes, I will have to step out from behind the camera and get in a picture once a month.  But that is actually what is motivating me to do this project.  I want to be a part of their memories when they look back on life.  So one of my promises to myself this year is to be more a part of the action not so much a documenter of their life . And, I guess, to feel a bit of their picture pain as well.icon smile Project 26 {week 1} Me and Mine | Danville CA Photographer

Below is a picture of my family on Monday, January 2, climbing at Rock City on Mt. Diablo.

Don’t forget to check out the amazing story teller, Carey Pace | Kingston TN lifestyle photographer.  Love her work!

Hi Krista!

It’s Jessica Fuhrman (now Sorosiak – I just got married in June), your old next door neighbor from Williamson Run in Indiana. My mom mailed me your Christmas card because she thought I’d like to check out your photography blog. I recently purchased my first DSLR camera and I can only hope that my pictures will eventually turn out as wonderful as yours! Your family is beautiful and it’s crazy how old all the kids are (although I’m sure the fact that I’m 28 now is probably crazy too). I look forward to seeing more of your photos and gain some photographic inspiration!

@ Suzanne – I used a tripod and the self timer. I realized two things doing this photo. 1 – I don’t know how to use my tripod well (I had trouble getting it to hold my heavy lens 24 – 70). 2. I need to get one of those remote firing things for my camera. I had one for my old camera and just assumed it would work on my new one…..my bad. So it was a lot of pictures of my heiny to be honest….and it wasn’t so pretty.

Oh my goodness!!! that story! what spunk your daughter has!!! Beautiful family portrait you have here!!!!

krista - January 5, 2012 - 8:34 am

@Hope…the sweater, the very tight sweater, I am wearing is actually Katie’s. She made me switch from my plain white shirt (that she is wearing) into her clothes…she thought she was going to be too hot hiking….then after photos she made me switch back b/c she was too cold. I think I made out well …its from aeropostale. Is yours too?

celestejones - January 5, 2012 - 7:29 am
